Underage Dating, but only by one year
im 17 and I really like someone that is 18. I want to start dating him but my mom says no because he is 18 and that means hes trying to date an underaged girl. we are talking one year difference!!! I was recently dating a guy that just graduated also, we dated for a year and my parents wouldnt have made me break up with him when he turned 18 so I dont understand why she wont let me date this guy. I dont want to date only 17 year olds because I live in a really small town and everyone in my grade I’ve known forever and I dont want to date any of them. they havent met him yet and I really want them to. my mom always says that she needs to meet the guy I want to date and aprove beforehand and maybe have him hang out with the family and this guy is totally up for it and will do anything, but they arent considering it at all. I dont know how im supposed to get them to let him hang with us and aprove. they dont know him and already assume he is a bad person. my mom says im not allowed to date 18 years and im 17, how do I go about this? some advice and help would be much appreciated. <3
haha funny about the cigarettes, she is a chimney!! and why would the poor guy get arrested I reallize the law but its nobodys business whether were having sex or not… age isnt a factor to me, if I like someone its because of their personality and mannerisms. my mom is the one with the problem about age. I’ve tried talking to my mom but she just ignores me or changes the subject.
Shes afraid you will have sex and get the poor kid arrested (that or she just doesn’t trust anyone that can buy cigarettes).
I don’t see any problems with it myself, if it where a few years apart then yes, but just one, I don’t see a problem, try talking to your mom about it, and be sincere while doing it!
I lived in a small town too so I know what it’s like to run out of decent guys your age. When I was 15 my boyfriend was 18 and I ended up marrying him 5 years later… so if it feels right… age shouldn’t be a factor.
