Why does UK postage take so long?

I ordered a package on Tuesday morning for next day delivery and it’s still not arrived and because of the weekend it won’t arrive till Monday. I’ve got 2 questions: Why does delivary take so long even when it’s next day delivery? Is there anything I can do about the non-delivery of the package either to speed it up or to gain a bit store credit or something as it has ruined my weekend?

I’ve never had an issue with UK postage. You could complain to the company, maybe they didn’t dispatch it when they said they did. You can always track the order if you have the number.
