How trusted is WinRAR from viruses?

I want to download it and it says that it is trusted and free from spyware. should i trust it?

Answer #1

As long as you download from a reputable site (download.com, etc) then it should be fine.

The only issue you may have is that it may be bundled with other software, which should give you an option to not install along with winrar.

Answer #2

i used winrar for years, yes its a trusted programme. i eventually switched over to 7zip as winrar had trouble opening anything begger than a few gig

Answer #3

WinRAR is something I use everyday. It’s a great program in that it can open up various file types. It can even extract .ISO files. Depending on what kind of OS you have, you might need to get either the x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version. The only difference between the two versions is the x64-bit will work better with the 64-bit OS than a 32-bit OS.

They do give out options to install toolbars and such, so you can just un-check them. With WinRAR, you can also encrypt your files and password-protect them from people. There are many similar programs like unRAR, 7-Zip, and such, but I find WinRAR to be the best.

Hope this helps.
