at first i didnt really beleive it but i learned it in school, so now i kind of do believe it
An old wives tale is something that is kinda sorta commonly 'known' or commonly said but isn't actually true. Like superstitions, or fake cures to ailments, etc. Like an apple a day keeps the doctor away, or dont put flowers in a room of someone who is sick because the flowers will suck all the oxygen from the room, if you swallow gum it will stay in your system for 7 years, spicy foods cause ulcers, etc etc...
thats why i didnt beleive it but in social studies after we do journals mr .h always shows us these little facts and it said smelling bananas makes you lose weight and bananas are healthy to eat so i was thinking mabey smelling them would help, but other than that it doesnt really make sence to me
What school did you learn that? Please remind me not to recommend it. Smelling something isn't going to magically cause you to burn calories, our bodies are a lot more complex than that. Losing weight takes commitment, healthy eating and regular exercise burns calories, not sniffing something.
lol i know its pretty rediculous but i thought i would just ask, cuz u never know... but i didnt really want to believe it, but i was just convinced more because my teacher is the one that said it, and normally they know what there talking about
That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I don't see how sniffing anything can make you lose weight.
Losing weight requires a healthy diet and exercise...not sniffing a banana like it's a sharpie.
Lol. This is why I should never become a teacher. Because I would find it entertaining to try and make people believe the most ridiculous things I could come up with. Your teacher was messing with you.
yea, now that i think about it it doesnt make sence because if i smell food and i like the smell i get hungry, or if not hungry, greedy, like i get an appetite and it makes me want to eat even more
I think that the idea behind is is that smelling foods is supposed to satisfy the craving and make you eat less, however most people I know get hungry whtn they smell food.
Well, no offense...but I personally think your teacher is an idiot. Either that, or he was just joking around.
working at a bakery and smelling that all day, w/o eating any, causes weight gain.
Well, he may believe it...but I don't. It doesn't sound like a fact to me.
lol none taken, but it was just a fact that he found i tink
i dont get it, what is an old wives teale?
Yes, but licking your elbow helps better.
Sounds like an old wives tale
