Is it true that if any meat or chicken is halal, that it has only been blessed?

You are almost right Nives. To halal meat means to say a Prayer while slaughtering the animal, once it is not Pork or an animal that consumes other animals. Halal basically means permissible my Islamic Law and extend to all parts of a Muslim person’s life. When meat is halal after saying the prayer, they have to make sure that all the blood is drained and also that the animal did not suffer to die.

I know but isn’t Allah Akbar A prayer? This is what I learnt at mosque as a child.

Allahu Akbar means ‘God is the Greatest’, meaning that nothing can supersede God or be better than Him. It is a common phrase in Islam and it features in the adhan and prayer. Muslims tend to use it for lots of reasons and to express many emotions.

Not necessarily. Islamically, when a animal is slaughtered, the person must do it in a way which causes the least pain to the animal.  There are a few rules to follow: A person must have intention before slaughtering the animal. Some people say “Allahu Akbar”, meaning God is Merciful, or God is Great. Others will say the Shahadah which is saying that there is no God but Allah and Muhammed is his Messenger.  The arteries or throat must be cut up then. It spares the animal from pain and torture for it is the quickest way to slaughter.  Just to clarify my words, here’s a narration:  “Verily Allaah has enjoined goodness to everything; so when you kill, kill in a good way and when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way. Every one of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably.” 

The reason as to why they must pray in Gods name before they kill, is because it becomes Halal to eat. In a way, you are being merciful to the animal.  Muslims follow certain rules after the animal is dead, about the blood and how to clean it and all.

It is also considered clean when you drain the blood because any diseases are mostly in the blood. So there is some medical science to it as well.

I’d like to see a Muslim’s blood being drained after someone slices his artery to see if he suffers or not. Do you think it matters to a dead body how they suffered or not? This is a religious idea that doesn’t come from God.

I worked in a slaughter house one time and there’s no good way of killing anything. I know for a fact that those animals don’t remember how they were killed.

Religious people believe they have to do special things for the gods of their imaginations that only please themselves. They don’t even know the true God who created all things.
