I have what you're talking about. You pay the full price for the phone (no discounts) and there is an activation fee...but look at it this way: You don't sign a contract... so if you can't afford it a few months from now, that's it. With a contract, you're screwed. When I signed a contract with TMobile a couple of years ago, they made me pay an activation fee, anyway..
Right now I get 300 minutes, free mobile to mobile, free after 9pm, unlimited texting, all for 40 bucks a month.. :) the fee was only 20 or 30 bucks..
yes, cause if you buy a phone without a plan your actually ripping yourself off, cause most of the major cell company's, charge you less if you get the plan with the phone. But, if you buy them seperate, you pay the full cost of the phone, then later you spend more $$ for a plan, when if you bought the phone with the plan, you could've saved your self some extra $$.
I do not believe the T-mobile has an activation fee. My mother uses pay as you go, and she just pays for the minutes. They may have changed the rules, but I dont think so

The t-mobile site says you get 500 mins with unlimited text for 40 bucks a month. Did it change? And I'm having problems with choosing a phone. What did you go for?
It depends on the company. What company were you looking at?
T-mobile
