I have extremely low pain tolerance… and I have my tongue done! I was very worried about it before I had it done because I am a wimp to be honest. However when I had it done, I had a mouthwash rinse, the piercer checked for major veins and dotted a spot with a pen as to where they would pierce it. They should then ask you if you are happy with where it will be. They wipe the dot off and clamp your tongue. They will ask you to stick your tongue out further. For this bit I would close your eyes! A needle goes through, should be upwards not downwards as downwards is more painful (goes through the pain receptors on the top) and you will feel a slight pain but it is no more than 10 seconds. It will feel odd while the piercer screws on the ball/bar but as soon as s/he is finished I pulled my tongue back in and washed it over with my salavia. However they will ask you to use a mouthwash again and blood will most likely be spat out as well.

Afterwards it will be a small throb but nothing you cannot deal with and eating may prove difficult. The first night I had it done I thought ohhh I really want to take it out. But now I’m glad I didn’t. I don’t even realise it’s there half the time.

I dont think so. its just the clamp that hurts. and it tends to hurt after as well.
