too high a voltage

hi I bought my daughter a fuji finepix camera and last week she put it on charge but used a 9volt, not the real charger. she had it on for approx 4min when I saw it and turned it off and now it doesnt turn on at all. Is it fixable?

Answer #1

the whole circuit must be replaced I belive, sadly warranty is void if the original charger is not used…

you could go down to a tech shop and ask if they do this kinda work, if not, go to the retailer where you bought it and tell a tech staff member of your problem they might know what steps to take…

Answer #2

Not sure.. :S Does it smelt/looked burned?

Answer #3

It can be repaired, but it will be very expensive. The electronic components of the camera constitute over 80% of the camera’s retail value. Here’s a breakdown of the costs

  1. Parts (of which you will pay a premium middle-man price)
  2. Shipping
  3. Labor

Buying a new camera would most likely be cheaper than getting your daughter’s camera repaired, not to mention less of a hassle
