Tired of Red

I have red hair (Auburn) and want to try something different but I noticed at the store that all the hair dye products do not list red hair as a starting point on the boxes. Do people with red hair just not dye their hair or is it something that cannot or should not be done? What’s the deal??

You can still use the products even if red is on as a starting point. It’s fine for people with red to dye there hair, it makes the difference. If your going to dye it brown then fine but if you were thinking of blonde them get it done at a saolon. Dying blonde at home never goes right, trust me.

The reason you don’t see redheads on box color is because it is hard to predict how red hair is going to run out where as blonds and brunettes are pretty predictable.

Redhair has very strong pigments of red in it and depending on your hair, it will show through the color you put on it… and may turn into a hair catastrophe.

Pretty much anywhere you read, it’s suggested that redheads see a color specialist. Not only do you have to deal with the hue but you have to deal with the color contrast to your skin tone. Professionals at a salon use a wider spetrum of colors, so they can easier contrast red hues than a box. Remember, the color on the box is JUST the color you’re adding to your hair. It WILL be box color + your natural color = ???

Hope this helps!
