Tomorrow I am going to be handing in my resume to DQ, my friend quit (Handed in her 2 week notice) today so I thought right away would be a good time to hand it in. Is there any special thing I should say to the manager? Any tips people have that have gotten them hired on the spot? I have been trying to get a job for at least 6 months, have had many many interviews, but unfortunately no luck.
The only time anyone gets hired on the spot is if the employer is desperate to fill a position, or the potential employee has skills that are of vital importance to the company and the risk of losing them to another company is apparent.
It's very unlikely that either of those instances are at play here ... the best you can do is show yourself eager to work and try and play up your best employment qualities.
People generally don't get hired on the spot these days. The employer will gather CVs of many people, review them, hold interviews, then decide who will be best to fill the position. You could try to increase your chances by being excited about the job or the place it's at / field of work, and come across as motivated, keen, and hard working.
