This doesnt make me a bad person does it?

-.- I was talking to my friend Jewels today. I have 1 nose stud and I want to maybe get a tattoo when im 18. Its only maybe because first off, my parents would freak out and 2nd off I might not even want a tattoo in a year. Long story short, is doesnt make me a bad person to have 1 tattoo does it? Its not like im going to put no thought into it at all as to what I want. If it isnt dear to my heart it isnt worth it. My style and look will not change.

How do I tell Jewels to be quiet and stop? She keeps telling me “Hope, if you get that tattoo your gonna regret it!!” I always reply “Not if I put time and thought into deciding what I want. and once im 18 and I still want it, thats a year. I want it. If it means a lot to me I’ll get it.” I understand she’s just trying to look out for me but she doesnt get it that I’m almost 17. I can make up my own mind. I get that I cannot make all of my own decisions, but once im 18 I legally can and I am confident and sure I will make the most responsible decisions possible.

I have two tattoos and I don’t regret it at all. No one looks down on me for it and everyone thinks they are very me and I’ve gotten nothing but good reviews on the two of them. I plan to get two more. My boyfriend has 4 and I love them, they add so much character. Don’t just pick something to be cool thought, pick something that means something to you

how is that bad lol tattoos can be very meaningful and beautiful =] and there is always semi perminant tats or even henna ones XD sorry if the spelling/grammar is abit off

I have three piercings and seven tattoos and if you asked anyone who knows me they’d all say something like I’m a good guy/person. Tattoos don’t make you a bad person, tats are artwork, a way of expressing themselves.

It’s a personal decision. And uhm if you’re going to regret it, well surely that’s your regret to deal with? Maybe you should point that out to your friend? You understand her concern, and you are glad she cares so much about you to not want you to experience regret, but really this is your personal decision, and if you end up regretting it, well then that will be your burden to bear…

It’s smart of you to wait. I’ve wanted one since I was 14, waited till I was 18. Figured if I waited that long, odds of me regretting it were going to be pretty slim. Make sure it has meaning to you… And when you’re old and wrinkly, I think the last thing you’ll be worrying about is a tattoo…

I think it’s good if it remnds you of something. Just don’t get a name or something like that and it should be okay. And remember that the colour is likely to fade and change so if you’re getting something for the colour, make sure it’s definately what you want. It doesnt make you a bad person though.

YumiYukai: Hehe, thanks for your input ^^ I have half a family who has bodies covered in tattoo’s so no matter how much research I get I can never see it from the opposite perspective. but I think I do now. The reason I want to get one is because I think that by marking yourself with a symbol of somethin close to you it will remind you of that experience/time you went through. Wether it looks ugly when your old (and perhaps have a worse memory ^^) or not, its always there to remind you and let you know of what you’ve went through and maybe overcome.

it doesn’t make you a bad person, but know matter how much time and thought you put into it you can still regret it later. think about it, when you get it (if so) you’ve lived 18 years without it.. you’ve done fine… right? but when you get it.. it’s permanent.. can’t take it off unless surgically removed and it’ll scar really badly… then you have the entire rest of your life to live with it.. you’re old and wrinkly and it will look more than terrible.. well yeah.. personally, I don’t like them.. I don’t see the point and there’s way too many risks for me to take.. it’s not worth it.. but really, it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person.
