Who thinks horse-racing is cruel (Read:)?

read the bullets on http://www.startananimalsanctuary.com/tag/race-horses/

That is austrailia. It MUCH worse here but look at basic facts

Answer #1

I think most kinds of animal racing are cruel. Horse racing can be very damaging to them, and I’ll never support any of those things.

Answer #2

Nope, I do not. Im not going to bother reading what ever is on the site that link is for.

Answer #3

Yeah, the abuse the horses go through is awful. I’ve never been keen. It’s as bad as the bear baiting etc. they used to do. Usually any kind of sport that animals are involved in is inhumane.

Answer #4

I’ve read certain things in the past about different animal things like that eg. greyhound and horse racing, etc, and from the stuff I’ve read (whether true or not) it’s horrible. So no I do not (nor will I ever) agree with that crap… :-/

Answer #5

well ur name says it all

Answer #6

Seems like it to me but not as bad as rodeos and bull fighting. Considering the grim existence livestock endure in large scale factory farming I’d say race horses are comparatively lucky.

Answer #7

Horseracing along with greyhound, etc is cruel and un nessessary. The 6mos baby horses are taken from their moms and locked into the stall and most likly ever seen the pasture again. They are trained and raced at 2yrs. They shld not be ridden at all until 3yrs and never hard until 5yrs but NEVER pushed like tht. Most racing is thoroughbred horses. Theese terrifed babies are used like cars not living beings.

Did you know that 98% of racers have stomach ulcers from stress?

If they survive being sold and raced over and over again most are “retired” at aroud 6yrs. They get sold off to auctions, slaughter etc and the others might be used for breeding unitl not fertile then they awate the same fate.

We have rescued tb racers. We have secritariat’s great grandson and storm cats grandson etc. They all came a mess and after 2yrs Danny still has ulcers and cribs and is mentally fried.

A horse is senstitive they are not big tough animals

This must end: Horse racing, slaughter, polo, jumping, major showing, rodeo etc.

Answer #8

true

Answer #9

I do because I don’t wouldnt want people to hit me and make me run, thats just inhumane

Answer #10

I disagree! Most horses live better than humans! They do not get hit wile racing, the whip is intended to snap in the air right behind the horse. Now that being said, the abuse that you may see is due to human error. Most horses have warm stalls to sleep in, fresh bedding, grain, hay, and fresh water. Some horses have filtered water streaming directly through there stall. I live in Lexington ky, the horse capital of the world. I see how horses live and are treated. Some have stalls that are nicer than most of our livin arrangements!

Answer #11

And what happens when they break a leg and can no longer race, yet are still able to live a fulfilled life as a horse?

Answer #12

I think it’s cruel.

Answer #13

Horses break legs when they are running I fields too! It all depends on the severity of the break. In the field or on the track, if it is bad enough, they will be put down. It would be more cruel on the animal to try to get it to heal, as horses cant follow a physicians instructions like a human can.

Answer #14

Did u read anything! Do you think a young horse wants to stand in a dark box stall? The aveadge life span of a horse is 25-35 yrs old. A tb race hore on the track is about 2-6yrs!! Its not the wip thats bad.

Answer #15

Most horses DO NOT live better than people. Look at the show jumpers that live in stalls and get jumped over and over until they have navicular so bad they can’t jump so they get sold off. If you were a horse you wouldnt want to stand in a stall would you? The racers in pictures in feilds are studs that are reitered and sinced good, kept for breeding. Most are killed when they are no use like ferdinand even whe he won over 3 mil dollors.

Answer #16

Go write a strongly worded letter to the person who owns the horse-racing track about amnimal cruelty, dont forget to use spell check.

Answer #17

But not all horses are treated that bad is my point. I can’t help that they are treated that bad around you, but here in Kentucky, they are treated quite well.

Answer #18

thanks good idea:) Also when we get horse slaughter ended everything else running on it including race tracks should slow down.

Answer #19

sry ths cool. im not saying all horses.

Answer #20

Im not so sure you caught that, that was a joke.
