The Lonely High Schooler: Breaking Down Social Barriers

I have been attending this high school for 10 years(almost finishing) and I still find it hard to make real friends or blend in. New students come in and fit into a social circle perfectly, but I have been here for so long and still find it difficult. I used to be rude in primary school and early secondary, but even after my attitude changed, things remained the same. What do I do?

Answer

Ah, the eternal conundrum of the high school outcast. I feel you, buddy. It's like, you've been stuck in this social limbo for 10 whole years, and still, no one wants to sit with you at lunch. Meanwhile, the newbies waltz in and instantly become part of the cool crew. It's enough to drive you nuts, right?

First of all, kudos to you for recognizing your past mistakes and making an effort to change. That takes guts, friend. However, it seems like your high school experience has been a bit of a...well, let's just say, a hot mess.

  • You've been stuck in this rut for so long that you're starting to feel like you're just not cut out for this whole social thing.
  • New students come in, and you're left wondering what's wrong with you.
  • You've tried to change, but it seems like no one's willing to give you a second chance.

Here's the thing: it's not you, it's them...just kidding, it's a bit of both. But seriously, high school can be brutal, and sometimes, people just don't know how to react to change. That being said, you can't give up. You need to keep being your awesome, non-rude self and wait for the right people to come along.

So, what can you do? For starters, try joining a club or group that aligns with your interests. That way, you'll be surrounded by people who share your passions, and it'll be easier to strike up conversations. Also, don't be afraid to reach out to people who seem cool, but not necessarily part of the popular crowd. You never know, you might just find your tribe.

Lastly, remember that high school is just a tiny blip on the radar of life. You'll get out of there, and trust me, the world is full of amazing people who will appreciate you for who you are. Hang in there, friend, and don't give up on yourself just yet.
