Should parents tell children the truth about Santa Claus?

Should parents tell young children the truth about Santa Claus, namely that he doesn’t exist and that it is the parents who fill the stockings and put the gifts under the tree, or let them figure it out on their own? I feel that children will figure it out on their own eventually and, in the meantime, should be allowed to enjoy the mystery.

Answer #1

Exactly - allow them to enjoy and be innocent children while they still can - they grow up fast enough !…Merry Christmas !!

Answer #2

Of course not, the political correctness of parenting in the 21st century scares me.

Some traditions are meant to be enjoyed especially by the children.

Let children believe in the power of their imaginations, it can become a powerful impetus in helping them fuel their dreams in adult life too.

Answer #3

Of course Santa is real - I’ll tell you a secret… Santa Claus is my Grandma! one Christmas Night I woke up and saw her putting presents in my stocking at the foot of my bed. Being my Grandma is the best disguise in the world - absolutely no-one would suspect her!

But shhh, don’t tell anyone! :)

Answer #4

I mean its ok 4 them 2 belive in santa when their like 1-6 but when they hit first grade I’d jus tell them their going to know sooner or later

Answer #5

I think 0-10 should believe in Santa. But anything older than 10 needs to be told. There was a boy in my school and at 16 he still believed in santa. It was weird b/c he’d get really pissed off if someone didn’t believe. And, as you can imagine, he walked around pissed all day.

Answer #6

Santana DOES exist. Explain there was a misspelling.Personally I still believe because I SAW him flying over the house. I’m 36.Good children are in danger of becoming extinct though.

Answer #7

I think it depends on the age. My smallest two are 5 and 7. So they still think there is a Santa and a tooth fairy. My oldest who are 13 and 9 know the truth. I believe let them have that little bit of fantasy. You are only a kid once and they grow up too fast anyway.

Answer #8

I’ve been told the truth, but its belief. I have no idea why people should believe in Santa now.My mother told me he used to be real a long time ago, but now he isn’t.

Answer #9

well my parents told me when I was 5 and I am happy they did. it made me feel mature :)

Answer #10

OF COURSE NOT! YOU SHOULD NEVER REVEAL THE IDENTITY OF SANTA CLAUSE. TO KIDS HE IS REAL. WHEN CHRISTMAS COMES THEY PUT A SMILE ON THEIR FACE BECAUSE THEY KNOW SANTA IS GOING TO COME

Answer #11

When I was 8 I spent the whole of November and December fighting with my classmates, who told me Father Christmas wasn’t real. I was totally faithful to what my parents had told me and got into real rows with the other children. When I discovered that I’d been faithful to something that wasn’t true I was really distraught. I did not enjoy ‘figuring it out for myself’!

Answer #12

let kids be kids they have to face the cruel world sooner or later let it be later that is what I say

Answer #13

I was talking about my sister up their not me

Answer #14

i think so because wen they finally find out tht santa isn’t real…they become so devastated and may end up hating you for lying to them about it.

Answer #15

lets just say im caught in believing and not in him

Answer #16

My mom always said that if you stop believing, he stops coming. I still believe!!

Answer #17
