How do I talk my parents into letting me get my teeth whitened?

So my teeth are stained badly, I NEED them fixed.(bleached, whitened etc.) People make fun of me a lot for it, and it really hurts my self esteem. You wouldn’t even know how sad i get when they do that, and my parents don’t understand. im embarrassed to smile and talk. I asked my parents and they raised an issue about money and how it kills enamel(does bleaching even do that?)My grandma came forth and said she would pay what insurance doesn’t, and they still wont do it because im growing and so are my teeth and it kills enamel(supposedly) but i seriously am lowering my self esteem and its killing me. I am 14 and cant put up with it any longer. how can i talk my parents into letting me do that and walking a mile in my shoes?

Well parents are always very precautious and worried for there children. Obviously they arent happy with u bleaching your teeth at your age. Use persuasive language with them and present strong arguments, do research about how safe it is and show them. This could help. Mention bow badly it is effecting your social life and the struggles you are having. The more facts you have tbe stronger your argument will be. Good luck.

Bleaching can damage enamel and the sad reality is you might get your teeth fixed now at 14 and it probably won’t last because your face is still developing (this was told in similar terms to my brother by his orthodontist). Speak to your parents and try and not moan about it, rather speak to them as an adult to see if they can at least take your for a teeth cleaning.

You can try alternative ways to whitening your teeth. You can buy a pack of $10 whitening strips that work good. They may not work as well as getting your teeth professionally bleached, but this may be an option your parents are willing to be okay with. Hope this helps.

use white strips from colgate i really dont know the price i think they either range to 30 - 50 dollars but i heard they work well and my mom uses them and her teeth were bone white so yea use them they have to be good and my mom had really bad stained teeth she used to drink tea and coffee alot and she smokes ciggerates so yea pretty stained and now they are white.

Answer #5

i wouldn’t suggest bleaching, there are other ways to whitening your teeth and removing stains. I personally vouch for 3D whitening effect and i use arm and hammer whitening booster (it a whitening gel that goes on top of the tooth paste you use) i noticed a difference in a week. I payed 5 dollars for the booster at cvs and like 4 dollars for the 3D whitening. you can say your parents alot of money.
