Answer #1

I’ve never had it but I know you get it by kissing or drinking after somebody that has it. I’m ot exactly sure what it’s like but I heard it sucks and you can hardly move and you miss a lot of school and you really dont lose it it sorta stays in your boddy… you could possibly have it and not know it.. -lily :)

I had mono when I was 16. Worst 3 weeks of my life. It’s very contageous (I.e. the kissing desease) but only be caught if you’ve been in contact with someone who has it. Symptoms: extreme fatigue. I couldn’t get out of bed at all. If I lifted my head above my shoulders I would faint. When I went to the bathroom my mom would have to hold me up. Bad body aches. Swollen throat. You DON”T get flu like symptoms (cough, sneeze, etc). Don’t worry, if you have it you will know. I was taken to the hospital after I couldn’t stand up for two days.

Mono can be picked up easily. I debate whether you get it from direct contact or not. Personally I think I got it when I had my wisdom teeth removed..

Everyone reacts to it differently, and blood tests for mono don’t always come back positive. The main symptom is entirely fatigue, you sleep and sleep and sleep but never feel rested. Typically your glands in your throat swell which causes pressure and makes it difficult to swallow - so you lose weight too. Also there’s headaches, migraines and fever.

Here’s a website that explains the disease, symptoms and treatment… http://www.healthlinkbc.ca/kbase/topic/major/hw168620/descrip.htm
