ok my little sisters where playing out front and a little dog ran up to the and now it wont leave us alone.when we drove about a hlf a mile away from the house we noticed the little dog was side by side next to our car. we let him in and took him out to the back yard. he tour up our wooden fence when we left. now he is standing in front of out front door with some food and water in a corner with a couple of blankets. I want to let him in the house but my dad does not want him in the house because we have 2 other dogs the dont get along with he. it is cold and its raining. what do I do?

Put up posters, this may be someone’s missing family member, Call your local shelter, atleast the dog will have food, water and a roof over its head and hopefully the owners will find there baby.

If your dad won’t let it stay, then maybe you should call Animal Control…so it can at least have shelter along with food. Is there a place outside that you could put the blankets, so it can get out of the rain? It sounds like this little guy was dumped off, doesn’t it?

I’m sorry your dad won’t let it come in…most doggie relationships (once the initial hierarchy has been established) will get along…

First you have to figure out if you’re going to keep the puppy or not.

If you are, then you need to reintroduce the pup and your dogs in a neutral place like a park. Your house is your dog’s territory, so it’s natural for them to be aggressive to new dogs to protect their home. Keep all dogs on leashes and take them for a walk together so that the pup can try to assimilate himself into the dog pack. This also depends on the breed of your dogs and the breed of the pup. Some big dogs will never get along with other big dogs or small dogs, so you’ll just have to see how they go, safely. Let the pup have his own area where he can be alone if the other dogs don’t get along with him. Sometimes it only takes time for your dogs to accept a new pup into the pack. And sometimes they will snap at each other because they are showing the pup who’s higher in the pack and the pup is at the bottom level.

If you aren’t planning on keeping the pup, you can either keep it safe and fed for a few days while you call neighbors to see if they’re missing a puppy, or even put out flyers around your area saying you found a puppy with a picture of the pup with his details (coat color, breed, gender, etc). Give it a week or so. If nobody comes to claim it, you call call up the local shelter or RSPCA to come pick it up. Or you can convince your dad to let you keep it. I put shelters as a last resort, because if nobody adopts the puppy in the shelter, it will be put down :(

Oh, and remember to take the pup to the vet and give him all the shots he needs if you’re planning on keeping it.
