Straightening your hair permanately?

So will a straightening perm damage my hair? I got a curly perm like 4 years ago and my hair is natuarally curly and frizzy now and I was wondering if it would damage my hair to get it permed straight? and how long would it stay straight?

I was gonna do it but my moms friend worx at a hair salon instead of selling to me she suggested not ever doing a perm for my own health. and it lastest until you hair grows of course usually 5 to 7 months. I heard the hair relaxer makes it static after a while. and you curls are never the same.
