What do I do with my story?

So, I came up with this story. It’s not something that is written down or anything like that, it’s just in my head. Whenever I was bored I’d just think of some extra plot to add to it. It was just something that would take my mind off of real life troubles. I always thought of it before I went to sleep or when I daydreamed in class. After a few years, it actually gained a lot of depth and plot to it. It’s really realistic and I came up with a lot of believable and likable characters. The thing is, should I do anything about it? I believe a lot of people will really enjoy this story, and thinking up this story and living with my characters in their world really helped me get my mind off things. I really want to show it to the public, but I don’t know how. I’m not a great writer, I do have a talent in drawing but it’s nothing special. What should I do about it? Or should I not do anything about this story? Though, I don’t really want to let go of this story, I mean, I spent a lot of time thinking about it, and I grew really attached to the characters.

Your post is well written. I am not disappointed by the standard of punctuation or spelling, and I was interested in what you have told us about the conceptual evolution of your story.

That all bodes well for the prospect of a successful book.

You have put more than enough time into thinking about it, and I really do think it is now time for you to get something written down, no matter how little, on a regular basis.
I suggest you aim to spend at least one hour per day, five days a week, writing your book and keep it up until it is finished to your own satisfaction.

It sounds like you have a very clear idea about the story-line with adequately detailed outlines for your characters. This indicates that you could easily write the parts that are of greatest interest to you first, regardless of whereabouts they might eventually appear in the book. Such a strategy will ensure that you have maximum enthusiasm initially, thus making it easier to create an encouraging amount of typescript, each time you set about the task.

When you have composed a reasonable quantity of really interesting text, it should then be relatively easy to link it all together to create a coherent book.

I wish you good luck with your project. I am confident that you will find it very rewarding intellectually and, with a little bit of luck, financially as well.

First off, I can totally relate to your story thing! I enjoy doing the same thing! Secondly, if you feel you are ready to write it, go ahead! Maybe take some writing classes or join a writing club and see what they think. Thirdly, you mentioned you liked to draw… Why not turn it into a comic? I know a lot of people who enjoy those types of things. Fourthly, maybe you just want to write it because it would be fun? Not that into sharing it with the public? You could just write it in a journal for now, and hey, maybe someday it’ll become famous. Best of luck! I hope I will someday read your book! tigerlover101
