How can I stop doodling all through class?

Answer #1

pay attention. I doodled a lot in class, but try taking notes of what the teacher is talking about. doodling is how i stayed awake but in my last year of school, i started taking more notes and i stopped my doodling habits and got much better grades.

Doodling is not necessarily bad, although I doubt that your teacher would encourage it.

I have always been likely to doodle while concentrating on more complex things, whether listening to others explaining them, reading about them or explaining things to others.

Sometimes, with really complex concepts my mind will only achieve the greatest insights into a problem if I doodle while I am thinking about it.

You may be like me and find that the greater the range of activity in the brain the more efficient it is in dealing with the main focus of attention. For example when reading about a difficult mathematical theory, or attempting to solve a difficult mathematical problem, it usually helps if I am simultaneously listening to some music that I am very familiar with, eating and/or drinking something, doodling on scraps of paper, tapping things with my fingers pencil or feet, scratching my head, even sticking my tongue in and out or grimacing.

So , like I said, doodling isn’t necessarily bad in my opinion, and certainly is not bad if (like me) you know it helps you to concentrate on the matter in hand..

Answer #3

Try to focus, doodling is a sign that your mind is traveling elsewhere.

Answer #4

It;s not something bad, if it’s something that helps you pay attencion and learn better then go ahead and do it. Some people need to do two things at once and they do their best that way. And that is ok. If your teachers have a problem with it, explain to them the situation. If not, try to not have a place to doodle on, so if you don’t need to take notes, put all notebooks under the desk or on the floor, and just away so you don’t have paper to doodle on. This way you are only listening.

Answer #5

Umm just try and stay focused…i know things can get SO boring sometimes or even all the time..so just get like a new pen or something and jot down tons of notes and study them alot…thats all i can think of.

Answer #6

Try your hardest to pay attention to the teacher. I used to have a hard time concentrating and I would doodle the entire class but when I had a cup of coffee in the morning and forced myself to pay attention and take notes my doodling habbits subsided :)
