Answer #3

Answer #4

Written calendars are as old as civilisation itself. The Egyptians, Sumerians, Chinese, and early American civilisations all had calendars thousands of years ago. Marking the seasons for harvesting purposes goes back even further; there are theories that Stonehenge was an early form of calendar, although its true purpose is disputed. The Gregorian calendar used in the West was developed in the early Christian centuries.

Answer #5

One thing I heard about the calendar of today is that it is off by 12 years

Answer #6

I believe the Mayans have been using calendars way before our concept of it.

As far as it being off, I would only guess that each new civilization would start their record keeping within and regarding their group. As in how long they have been on earth.

The calendar wouldn’t be off to them, as they are counting their exsistance.

Record keeping and inscribing were not common as it is today. We really do not know how long people have been arou8nd, other than what science is proving to us.

Answer #7

haha i spelledd mayans wrong. Yeah i wish time machine’s exsisted then we could now a lot more! :)

Answer #8

The earth is 4.5 billions of years old. The oldest proof of man has been carbon dated Scientists have found evidence of early human existence in Malaysia that dates back to 1.83 million years A skull, found in Ethiopia forty years ago, have been dated using potassium-argon dating, as the oldest human remains yet discovered at 195,000 years old. Calandars only mark the exsistence of time as relevant to the time keeper.
