In Sony Vegas you can adjust the playback speed by applying a video effect, but it doesn’t always “take”. The video plays back faster on the timeline, but doesn’t take up less time on the timeline. Doubling the speed of a 1 minute clip doesn’t actually shorten it to 30 seconds, for some reason. In imovie you just select the part you want to speed up then click control T then go to editing, go to video effects on editing, click the option of “fast slow and reverse” and make it go faster. it will show you a preview too. then you have to apply it. Even though you said without using windows movie maker i will still tell you how to just incase. You can just go to “effects” and scroll down until you see the effect called “Speed Up, Double”. Then drag it to the clip you want to speed up. You can drag it multiple times if you want the clip to be more than twice as fast. hope this helped! :)
