speech???

I am doing a speech on teen addiction. and does anyone know why teens do drugs??? like reasons??

Answer #1

social acceptance curiosity make friends or they think it might make them happy

Answer #2

the teens I know that do drugs are doing them because they skate. They like the high it gives them so they can’t control themselves. Meaning, it gets them high so they aren’t afraid to do new tricks. And they do it because they get it rough. Drinking and getting high eases their pain of being yelled at and all that.

Answer #3

alygrl3895 covered it I would also add perpressure, and not to feel pain. Abuse can lead to addiction.

Reasons teens do drugs:

  1. their friends are doing it
  2. they think it will make their life better
  3. they think it will make them “cooler”
  4. they are curious
Answer #6

I have never been around to many teenagers, of which I was one, who do drugs repeatedly because it makes them cool. Smoking pot or trying something once or twice then that is it, ok I’ll hand it to you. That is curiousity, and possibly environmental, ie people are doing and you participate.

But the overall reason people, teenagers especially is for an escape. They use the drugs, alcohol, out of curiousity in the beginning and realize, wow this stuff can make me Superman, or make me forget how much my family life sucks, boo hoo me.

Another reason is mental illness. Ie unipolar depression or bipolar disorder. It is used to self medicate another serious condition.

99% of the time drugs are used repeatedly is to escape reality.

Answer #7

when I tried drugs it was because of pressure; I dont do them anymore.

Answer #8

Most teens do drugs because there friends are doing it. And some just don’t know any better. They don’t know what drugs can do to your life. I think that should be the most part to your speech, letting them know how much it can just mess your life up and it’s very hard to come back from that but it is also possible. Anything is possible if you set your mind to it.

How are you going to tell people they don’t know what they are talking about, I myself and a recovering drug addict. I’ve lived it myself, and I’ve been in and out of rehabs and meetings with plenty of other teens and young adults and have witnessed it all first hand and heard the stories.

Answer #10

CURIOUSITY: MAKES THEM COOLER: THEIR PARENTS DOIT: INVOLVED IN SECOND-HAND: MAKES THEM FEEL BETTER: DO IT BECAUSE IT’S BAD:

Answer #11

Teens use drugs out of:

-Curiosity -Peer Pressure -To Fit In -Their Friends Are Doing Them -Addiction -To deal with their problems -To escape from the world -To take a spiritual journey (mostly acid and shrooms on that one) -To have fun
