Why am I sleeping/falling asleep so much?

I sleep at least 10 hours/night, and I fall asleep during the day! I fell asleep at the soccer field, watching tv, even at church! I couldn’t keep myself awake. I’ve been taking naps during the day, so I sleep a total of 15 hours/day (at least) It’s been like this for a week or two now. And no, I’m not pregnant. :) What could it be, and what can I do about it?

If you sleep a lot you get drowsy throughout the day. Do not sleep 10 hours if you get sleepy, try 9 hours or even 8 hours. If that doesn’t help then get some prescribed sleeping pills.

Do u find yourself lethargic and without energy much of the day? Could be low blood sugar, maybe u need a change in your diet, or it’s just that your own body needing more sleep than usual…Or is this a recent development?

Oversleeping can make you more tired, but I think you should go to the Dr. and get some blood tests done. You could simply be low on iron or B12 or something like that.

It could be from the lack of iron your body has. Get a blood test done and ask your doctor about the problem. There’s also pills that you might need to take if it’s really serious. You can also be diagnosed with narcolepsy. Also lack of food can cause your body to fall askeep because it’s not getting energy. Try taking a strong coffee each morning, or carry small snacks in your bag. When you feel your going to fall asleep, keep yourself busy. Better to get it checked out if it keeps happening though, you might need medication.

I suggest seeing your doctor and getting them to test your for anemia (shortage of iron). That could explain why you are so tired.

Is your diet OK? Get a CBC to check for low Hb. Try multi-vits…
