where/ okay i can sing i mean i can hold a tune and rift and stuff but my vocal range is very small...like between 2 octaves....is this bad?

Answer #1

well, i dont necessarily think it’s bad. it just happens to some people i guess. if your talking about it being bad for a singing career, then i can’t imagine it being, well, good. isn’t it possible to improve your range with practice? if it really bugs you, i would just practice a lot with scales and such. Well, you could always look up on google (or even right here!) “how to improve your vocal range” (or something similar) Hope I’ve helped!! =)

Answer #2

It isn’t BAD, unless you’re considering singing for a career. If you are, then I suggest you get an instructor (unless you already have one?). OR, if you don’t want to do that, then you can play notes on the piano and try to repeat the note with your voice. Hitting notes is also based on air. You can try various exercises to help your lung capacity. Practicing will also help your range, but don’t push yourself or else you could strain your voice. And if you feel dizzy THAT IS NOT GOOD. Stop and rest for a while.. That happens to me after I hold a note for a long time D: If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the highest and lowest note you can hit?

Answer #3

well, my piano is out of tune so this isn’t exactly accurate but it gives you an idea of how pittiful my range is…but E below middle C and the C above middle C…and i don’t plan on a singing career..but i love it and do it for fun and in church and stuff and we’re abot to start a band and i may possibly be the lead singer…so do you think exercises will help me hit higher and lower notes?

Answer #4

Ehh…that’s not…THAT bad : \ And yeah, I think breathing exercises will help. I take lessons, and my instructor gave me some good ones. Whenever you’re bored, or when you’re taking a bath or something (whenever you have free time D:) take a deep breath and slowly let out the air while sort of..hissing. It sounds stupid, because it’s hard to explain to you without standing right beside you. But it definitely helped me. Another one is, when you’re in the car and you stop at a stop light, take a deep breath and hold it for as long as the stoplight lasts, and then slowly release it. It also helps if you sing with your chest voice more than your head voice…but if you sing in church, you can’t really use your chest voice.. : \

Answer #5

i think you lost me..do you mean my diaphragm when you say chest voice..and why couldn’t i use that in church? but thanks alot for the exercises i hope they help me like they did you:P

Answer #6

Ummm…kay. So chest voice is like…you use your stomach muscles and really push, so it comes out really loud and strong. Listen to some Evanescence songs, Amy Lee uses her voice very well. Head voice is where it sounds airy and quiet. When yuo said you sang in church, I assumed in a group? If yuo used your chest voice while singing in a group, you would drown everyone else out.

Answer #7

*Amy Lee uses her head voice very well- sorry!

Answer #8

oh no no i sing like specials which is me and maybe my aunt or cousin or someone singing with me but i know what you mean now we don’t use little church girl voices..i will definitely practice all that thanks!!

Answer #9
