Sick chihuahua

I have a 5 year old chihuahua about 5 lbs. Last night she started acting a little lethargic and whiny. She hid under the couch when it was time to go out before bed. She did her business when I carried her outside, but she usually runs outside as soon as I open the door. When I got home this evening I noticed her dry heaving and still acting like she feels sick. I can’t afford the emergency vet unless it’s life threatening, and the regular vet is closed. What do I do?

She may just have a belly ache. My little chi will get like this when she just has gas. Make sure she is drinking and eating. Try a little kero syrup.

Watch her carefully for 2 days (from when she started seeming sick)…the one thing I worry about with these teensy little one’s is obstruction… it only takes a tiny object to block up their guts…a piece of cloth, etc…something a larger dog would just poop out.

If she’s not better then please take her in…obstruction IS life threatening. There is a program called Carecredit which will sometimes help with costs…let me know if you need the link, and I’ll go on a search for it.
