It sounds like your looking for a really cool cat for a pet. Yes, cougars are cool but they are natural born predators and killers. Their easy to handle as kittens but the older they get the stronger they become and harder to handle. One wrong step on a paw or a tail and swipe. Your off to the hospital for stitches because your cougar clawed you for the accidental pain you caused. Cougars also known as Mountain Lions in the western U.S. have been known to track down joggers, take them out and cover the rest of the body under leaves and brush and return later for the rest of their meal. Sounds gruesome but true. They also have a very interesting growl. Sometimes compared to the crying of a baby. If you want a really cool domesticated cat. One that doesn’t require a licence. I would recommend a Savannah Cat. Their larger than your average cat. They can be walked on a leash and will get you some attention from others. Which is what this whole thing is really about anyway. Hey, and their big enough that your neighbors may just call the police to make sure it’s safe and not some wild killer cat.

Honestly I don’t even know what to say, but here is what is going to happen when you try to keep a WILD ANIMAL as a pet:

  • You get it young, it acts friendly. It will play rough with you but since it’s small it’s no big deal and not scary

  • It grows up and hurts someone and who gets hurt in the end? - THE COUGAR because it will then be considered dangerous to society. Well no sh*t, it’s a cougar. If the cougar kills you it will have done nothing wrong. They are predators. You will be the selfish one for trying to keep one captive. Same thing goes for BEARS and ocelots, and other wild animals. THEY ARE NOT PETS BY ANY MEANS, leave them in their natural habitats.

I feel so terrible for wild animals that get shot for going into residential areas. We are invading THEIR SPACE, and people freak out and blame the animals.

Sorry I just get really worked up when it comes to stuff like this. People are SO SELFISH and think that they are above everything and everyone. Yeah, person vs. cougar… I wonder who will win!

You Have To Have A Lincsens(?) Hun. ;] Im Getting A Bear When Im Older. And I Done The Research On Keeping Wild Animals As Pets. Get An Occolot(?) For Now.

Answer #4

Its is illegal to have them for pets. They are NOT tamable and they will kill you if you manage to raise it to an adult age. For you I would say you should get a dog.

Answer #5

There is no reason to take a wild animal out of it’s natural environment. The only reason to do that is selfishness. The couger would rather be in the wild, not a cage at your house or living in your garage. That is not respectful towards the animal.

Answer #6

Well if you have the time for it then yes but you do have to have a license and you have to take SPECIAL care of it. Get it at a very very young age your you wont be able to controle it…

Answer #7

Answer #9

Answer #10

I have a 1 acre pice of land and it has a big fence around it it has a my familys cars and stuff

Answer #11

That sounds like a really bad idea. They have not been domesticated, and may turn on you.

Answer #12

ya thats ture im not at home a lot I should probly wait

Answer #13

LOL…good luck…I’m sure your neighbors will have the law on your back about the first time the big cat screeches…It’s not easy for an adult to get a license for a large wild cat…so I doubt they will give one to a teenager…

Who’s going to be responsible for the lawsuit if the cat gets loose??? Attacks the neighbors pets or children?? Who pays for YOUR hospital bills, if the cat attacks you??

Seems there’s more to think about here, than being “gnarly”.
