Should you trim hamsters?

I have a long haired hamster and the hair near his butt is super long. I thought I should trim it, but my mom said that long haired hamsters don’t need their fur cut. Is this true?

Answer #1

Nope.

Answer #2

I’m not sure if it’s the same in terms of hair growth or not, but I had a long-haired guinea pig when I was younger. The hair can sometimes get in their way. I’d suggest trimming it just a little bit, so it doesn’t start matting.

Answer #3

NO. it will take 4-6 months for their hair to grow back. you are suppose to brush them daily though with an old toothbrush.
