OMFG!!! if I would of known you one year ago!!! I was HUNTING for a seamstress for my dance studio!! never found one I liked so I gave up and sent them back to the company to be altered and it just is such a waste of time. dang it!!! I would of had you design and make all my stuff for us!!! wow, I didn’t know you did all this. you are very talented!! gosh I say both, but if you have read my last fun mail I sent you , you might end up in the same position as me, over loading your schedule because you want to do it all!!! oh brother coouldn’t you limit yourself to just sewing on your spare time as a hobbie then work full time? Thats what I try to do. just don’t overload your self so you don’ t have anytime for yourself otherwise it will not be enjoyable anymore:(

Answer #2

No I wouldnt like that. I only like doing one off projects. I have done troups etc but the monotony does my head in. Small attention span lol

Answer #3

lol im so passionate about my sewing. I tought myself and never ever had any lessons and I have never used patterns.lol. Maybe I could do a bit of both?

Answer #4

whispers don’t call them cute around bigmuma… they are divine!

Answer #5

cute costumes… What do you like doing more?

Answer #6

I suggest you do a lot of comparing, write out a chart comparing both pros and cons about each option and go from there.

Answer #7

I agree with stephenie and also what would you get more costumers?

Answer #8

Also my other pic with the little mice was for the nutcracker and there were 12 mice and a rat king and the little girl at the front ad the soldier. There were 2 soldiers one older and the same with the little girl.

Answer #9

Yeh thats a point. I love making things that come into my head but I detest making things that I have a deadline for lol. I just like to use my creative licence. lol. I think I might just do both. Thanks for the help guys. Loving you all sic right now lol

Answer #10

lol, backpedals quickly and changes words to divine ;)

and you will never hear me say it is easy to sew!

I guess decide what’s more important, the money or what you like doing (not in bad way, practical issues have to be taken into account, but see if you can afford the pay cut…)

Answer #11

Yeh did I tell you I quit my job. 8months ago and I was suposed to buy the business for 3,000. then I chickened out and just managed it. Now if the guy sold it it would be around the 70,000 mark. I want to do that for myself thats why I quit.

Answer #12

I was thinking that, is it possible?

And maybe if you have sewing as a creative outlet not a job it wont become tiresome (just talking to someone about that, she played the flute, but hated it once she got to college and music was her major…)

Answer #13

bigmuma, surely not many people can sew what you sew, sounds like a real specialty. Can you try and get a contract with a big dance company?

Answer #14

Yeh done that but it still isnt working. I even thought of becoming a marriage celebrant lol could you imagine me marrying a couple lol.

Answer #15

They are a masterpiece ! Just so everyone knows they are double full skirts with 8 metres per layer with 5 layers in each skirt. 18 metres of ribbon on the bottom of each. They were a true patence tester. lol. .People think its really easy to sew but sometimes its very very hard lol. I do love to sew esp when I get to design most of the costumes which I do most of the time. The ballet teacher just let me do what I wanted to because I have a natural flair of creativity. lol. I dont know if there is as much money in it though.

Answer #16

you need to put a couple solid years into your own cleaning business, and then find someone else to do all the dirty work like they did to you. then you can pick up the sewing for fun and roll in the profit from the business. you already have so much experience in the field… why not set yourself up for retirement… then … retire.
