You have to get your priorities straight, then when stable, pursue your dream…Good luck !!

Answer #2

No, you shouldn’t give up your dream.

You shouldn't be stopped at pursuing your dream. YOu should go on trying. if you are crazy enough, you will try and succeed.

you know, “People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.”

                  Good luck!!

Dont give up…just take action and keep trying and eventually it will happen, you just need to meet somepeople who play other instuments, and have a place to practice, with amps and stuff..

Given that you are 13, don’t give up on your dream of being in a national/indie/garage band. It will be hard to have the will to keep on playing and making a living at it in your 20’s (assuming you still have the dream of being in a band). First off, you will need money. Quite a bit. -I don’t recommend getting a bad guitar (i.e., something that costs $150-$250). I suggest getting something good, around the $300+ range. -A small, practice amp. For this quality of amp, don’t go around looking for a good quality amp. Get something that will allow you to hear yourself play through a speaker. -Once you’ve saved up more money for a half- full-stack (head and cabinet(s), get something worth it. This is going to be very expensive. Don’t go out and buy a half- full-stack that’s incredibly expensive or cheap. I suggest buying a half- full-stack at a local music dealer, not something main stream. They are more likely to be able to help you customize the sound that you want and not screw you over on something that you should have gotten. However, get something that you like, not just something that they recommend. If you like the English-style tone over the American-tone, or solid-state versus tube amp. Your money, your choice. -Pedals. They are expensive. BOSS and Digitech make some pretty good, cheaper pedals that will last a while. -Cords shouldn’t be too much of a problem, something around 15-20 feet. Monster cables are good. -Strings. Definitely don’t go cheap. There are a lot of strings out there with many different tones available. The base set up for strings right away would more than likely be Ernie Ball, Elixir, GHS Boomers. Try out some Medium scale strings and then you can change your strings based on your style of play. -Case/Gig bag. May as well get a gig bag. Cheap, efficient, and they protect your guitar. -Practice space. You’ll need quite a bit if you’re going to have at least one guitar, two amps, and drums. Not to mention a microphone, wires, and another amp for that microphone. Getting people to play at your age shouldn’t be that much of a problem. Stop by the band room at your middle/junior high school and ask a percussionist if they’d like to practice or make a band. Set a practice time once to twice a week. Make sure that everyone that’s in the band is able to be there at that time, no later. Practice practice practice. You could have all the equipment in the world, but if you don’t know how to use it, it won’t be worth it one bit. You NEED a bassist. A bassist that can hold down the beat and tie everyone together. The bassist fills out the entire sound to the band. They don’t just have to play root notes, they don’t have to sit in the background. Without the bassist, there isn’t much to the band. (I should know, I am one! Huzzah!)

So, don’t go on and give up your dream, but know that it is going to take some time and money to get there. Always practice, but practice what you want. Practice how you want. Taking lessons does help as well, even if it’s from someone that doesn’t teach for a living, but plays avidly and knows what they’re doing.

never give up. even when it seems like theres no hope in it for you. the more you work at it, the more chance you will have of succeeding. think about it. if you gave up now, 10 years from now you could be sitting, wondering “what if I didnt give up”. if you try, and you reach your dream, then you are a winner. if you try, your very hardest, and dont quite make it, you are still a winner. because you tried. and you gave it your all. and you never have to stop and say.. “what if”.
