Should I get a job before I move or after?

I want to move once I graduate college in December. How can I find a job from long distance before I move? Or should I just start job-hunting once I move?

Answer #1

Get a job first of course! If you move to your destination and for some reason cannot find a job then your stuck and not only stuck around a place that is familiar to you, but stuck somewhere that is new, different and maybe confusing to you. Its not hard to find a job first. Just go to Craigs list or to Monster.com one of those will help. Good luck!

Answer #2

Start looking now!

A good place to start is my going to the version of craigs list for your destination: http://craigslist.com

These days, hiring jobs are mostly advertised online, not so much in your local newspaper. You have no excuse to not start looking now. This way, you can begin to see the kind of jobs available in the area, and to also start sending out resumes, and talking to people on the telephone.

By the time you’ve moved you’ll be stepping right into that new job!

Answer #3

If you get a job first, then move over 50 miles from your last address, your entire moving expense is tax deductible.
