Should I call animal control?

I was walking my dog and noticed this tiny metal cage with a brick on the top in a yard down the street and there was a squirrel in it! It was freaking out. I think that’s kind of sick, and I would let it out but I don’t know how I could without getting so close that it’d bite me, and I d*mn straight don’t want rabies. But at the same time, it doesn’t seem like a big enough issue that if I reported it there would be anything done about it. Still, my friend says I should call the animal people… Should I really? Like, what if it’s gone by the time they get out here?

Answer #1

I’d call animal control and let them assess the situation…Take care !!

Answer #2

Call!!

Answer #3

U never know, animal control people put cages out too…so how do you know if it was them or someone being mean to the squrrel ? dichihuahua

Answer #4

It may have been sitting there for Animal Control to pick up. My neighbor caught three raccoons in a cat trap and sat them out front until Animal Control got here.

Doesn’t hurt to call and check if it has been called in

Answer #5

Yeah it is legal but it should get at least fed and watered too though… I mean it is a living thing and needs the same stuff as us to survive. So I would still call.

Answer #6

The trap is legal, but leaving the animal in there for long amounts of time is not humane.

Call them!

Answer #7

Mabey you should put on a oven mit and rescue him?

Answer #8

Actually that type of trap is legal and Animal control will tell you that they will also supply you the trap in many towns and citys and in some cases set them. . . .

Answer #9

I agree with everyone above. I would call.

Answer #10

Yeah you definitely should call someone about that, thats incredibly sad.

Answer #11

I would.

Answer #12

sounds like a live trap- I wouldn’t worry about it, unless it is there for days- it is required that if you are live trapping that you check your traps everyday. so just keep an eye on it- squirrels in those traps are usually pretty mad- so I wouldn’t go near it. it is also ILLEGAL to screw around with someones traps who is trapping legally. it doesn’t sound like a situation worth calling animal control for.
