Shopping difficulties!

I just got back from shopping. I’m annoyed. I’ll tell you why I’m annoyed. I went to the shops with the specific purpose of wanting to buy my favourite sunless tanning lotion that is only sold in one place that I know of (in my area). I get there and all they have left is the tester. Now I need to be tanned for the weekend - it’s an obsession of mine as I can’t party if im pasty and white. I don’t care if it’s dumb, I wanted that tanner so I was determined to get it.

I grabbed the tester from the shelf and took it over to the girl at the counter. I politely asked if there was any more stock out the back. She looked at it and said “Sorry, no, we only have what’s out on the shelf.” I was a little annoyed but remained cheerful and polite. I said “Okay I am willing to buy the tester then.” “Sorry we don’t sell testers.” “Um, you guys are the only place that sell this. I will pay full price for it.” (it was almost full) “No sorry.” I was now annoyed. “What do you mean you can’t sell it - here is a product which I am wanting to purchase, why can’t you sell it?” “Sorry it’s store policy.” “But I will pay FULL PRICE for a tester.” “No I’m sorry I can’t do that.”

I left it on the counter and walked off.

Now I know there are bigger issues out there and most people would think I’m being stupid. But WHY can’t they sell me something that I was willing to pay for???
