What happens now that most of the senate is republican?

Answer #1

Same thing that happened when there was a Republican majority under Clinton. They put on a side show, invent some crimes, try to impeach the president, waste about 10-30 million dollars of tax payer money…

…and to show that he’s “bi-partisan” Obama passes some legislation ala Clinton like the removal of the estate tax on sales of your primary residence, thus laying the foundation for another economic upswing and massive crash.

Imho, at least :)

Answer #2

I would Just like to point out the confusion here… The Senate is still a majority Democratic, the House of Representatives is the part of Congress that has a majority Republican.

Answer #3

Oh ok thanks for the clear up about the parties.

Answer #4

The Democrats made major gains in the House of Representatives in 1982, and the Republicans made similar gains in 1994. In both cases, the incumbent presidents-Reagan and Clinton-won reelection despite a mid term that may have been seen as indicting their job in office. I think Obama can rebound from this.

As for the country? Nothing happens. The long term problems the United States is facing will remain.

Answer #5

When Americans start to think one party has too much power they tend to vote in the other side.

Since Democrats held the presidency and both branches of congress things realigned.

We are looking at 2 years of gridlock.

Answer #6

Nothing really yet. But in two years when we get Obama out of office, then things can start happening!
