What do you think of a semester abroad?

I am in high school and I have the opportunity to go to Prague for a semester. Most of the technicalities have been taken care of, but it has gotten more expensive than my family anticipated. It won’t put a strain on my family, but I feel guilty. Also, I will be there for 6months and originally i would get to come home and visit halfway through, but now it is too expensive. I don’t know how I will go 6 months without my family, friends, and my boyfriend. But I know it would be the experience of a lifetime. Any opinions? Advice?

Like you said, experience of a lifetime. 6 months really does go faster than you think it will. I know several people who’ve done semesters abroad (most of them in college though) and they loved their experience. If it helps, I started college when I just turned 17, and I was several thousand miles away. You get used it. Just figure out ways to keep in touch with everyone.

six months away from your loved ones could be tough, but what an amazing opportunity and expereince. Life is all about embracing each moment and learning and expereincing everything around you. I think it would be an amazing adventure for you, one you may not have the opportunity to have again.
