Secondary Amenorrhea and pregnancy?

I have secondary amenorrhea, which means that I have had periods before, but that I don’t anymore. I have been looking online, and can’t find the infromation I need. My boyfriend and I had sex last night, and the condom broke. I was just wondering if anyone know’s whether or not I still could get pregnant even though I don’t have periods on a regular basis. Does amenorrhea mean that an egg is not released?

Hi,

Prolonged amenorrhea can lead to infertility and other medical problems such as osteoporosis (thinning of the bones). If the halt in the normal period is caused by stress or illness, periods should begin again when the stress passes or the illness is treated.

However, the amenorrhea must be prolonged to a certain extent (ask your doctor) for infertility to occur. Amenorrhea does not mean that your period will never return in every instance.

if you’re not having periods at all, then you’re not releasing an egg. although I’d advise doing a test if you’re worried, just to make sure.
