School Talent show..opinions needed

okay I posted a poem on here yesterday that I would read at my school talent show but I wanted to keep my options open so I wrote another poem today. This poem is not about me, I’m a girl and I’m not gay, I just write poems on real life issues that we face today such as drug addictions, discrimination, love poems, heartbreak etc. let me know what you think thanx:)

“Accept Me”

Have you ever felt so out of place? It’s a feeling you just can’t erase Everyone automatically shoots harsh looks my way From the moment I say that I’m gay Their stares cut deep into my skin It’s a burning sensation that I feel from within My crying soul cannot endure the pain I feel as if I’m going to go insane Why should you feel the need to discriminate? Just because I like John but not Kate I’m just so tired of all the hate I’m a human just like you I deserve to be treated like one too Is it a crime to have a different sexual preference? It’s the same thing when a guy likes a girl, what’s the difference? Just like everyone else; I deserve to be happy So why can’t everyone just accept me?

I think that was a very good poem…but before you say it in front of the audience or whatever make sure they know its not about you lol

If you read that, people are going to think that you are gay. Plus you’re a girl so saying you like John and not Kate is just mixing it up by making it sound like you’re straight again. I’m majorly confused. Go for another real-life issue.
