Sayin no to a puppy how???

Say “HEY!!” or “ACKK!!”…something short and sharp, then at the same time, push her away from whatever she’s into…say “goood girl” (singsong “happy” voice and a big smile), then distract with a toy.

If your other dog is only being annoyed, then things are probably ok…Adult dogs are pretty good at disciplining pups…setting limits…in a non-harmful, yet VERY effective way (this doesn’t apply to a VERY old dog…in that case you do have to protect them from a pup). If he’s under 8 or 9, tho, he’ll let her know when she’s gone too far.

Of course you don’t want to “hurt” her…but you do need to be firm (that sharp sound of “ACKKK!” even in a low normal volume), just loud enough to get her attention…also, put on a serious face…just as a big smile when you’re saying “goood girl” helps establish good communication…a frown “baaad” does the same…

When I’m working with a pup, I really exagerate positive things…like my smile is HUGE, my “goood girl”…is ultra happy…some people feel uncomfortable doing that stuff, but it really enhances training…and it’s not forever.
