SAT scores

is an SAT score of 1900-2000 decent? In other words, if the rest of my application is well written and has a decent amount of other supplemental factors, will I be able to get into a top-notch college?

for example:

  • I speak fluent czech
  • for my whole soph year in h.s. I was in austria on exchange and learned german very proficiently
  • I’ve been playing the cello for 13 years
  • I took ballet lessons for 8 years and now I’m doing ballroom.
  • I’ve gone to a couple selective leadership conferences
  • I am a member of JSA
  • I’m a skiier
  • I’ve taken a few AP classes but my transcript isn’t that strong, I have a 3.5ish GPA ( I go to a private school where an A constitutes of a 95% or above, anything below is a B or lower..)

my dream schools are wellesley, dartmouth, and williams (among others).

im a junior this year and I’m stressing out about colleges & applications. for anyone having had experience with applying/getting accepted to colleges, what do you think my chances are of making it into a top school, taking into consideration the above factors?

im desperate for an objective opinion :-(

Answer #1

If you get accepted for one of the ones you want, start applying for scholarships and grants, possibly get a part time job and you can pull it off.

Answer #2

thank you, unfortunately my mother died recently and my father does not share my sentiments of going to a top school.

he believes I should attend an inexpensive state school and does not plan to contribute to my tuition fees…

1500 is considered good. You have a very impressive resume. Make sure your application shines, and I think you’ll have a fair shot. If you also can present yourself well, dress well, and speak well with adults and authority figures with respect, confidence and can be well spoken and direct, it will go a long way too.

Your parents should be VERY proud.
