Why do religions that support love cause so many wars?

was this true in the crusades?

The two biggest religions (Christian / Muslim) BOTH converted people by killing them, starting wars, etc, etc.

The crusades…the Americas…Mohammed himself led an army to build an empire while bringing his message of “peace”.

So that covers more than 50% of the worlds population right there :)

If you look at a lot of the “religious” wars throughout history, there were typically other motives: politics, economics, etc. Religion was simply used by leadership to incite the less educated masses to fight for their cause. And keep in mind that with some organised religions, the messages of love and peace would not necessarily reach the less educated, illiterate masses unless the clergy or priest class wanted it to.

The crusades were during a different time. The church was very powerful and was looking to expand it’s power. While clashing with Muslims who were also trying to expand.

Not all muslims are mass bombers and Jihadists.Only extremist ones are,i have Algerian muslim friends who are sunni muslim and they believe that all war is bad exept deffence. Jihad doesn’t mean the islamic war against the west,it just means “struggle” in arabic,you can have a family jihad,a drug jihad…etc But the jihad in this case is allah’s jihad with westerners corrupting muslims. I live in France and not all catholics are violent,just the extremists again.

Enough with history lessons. We all know there is only one major religion that in 2010 will kill you and your family if you don’t convert.

Lies

Religion does not do anything. Misinterpretations from Ideolgical followers, are what cause problems. In my book there is spiritual truth, and then their is religion. God Gave us spiritual truth. Man created religions from these spiritual truths in order to control people. Organzed religion is about control. Jesus did not come here to set up a new religion. He came to open a relationship.
