Does anyone have any good recipes to prepare artichokes?

This needs to be easy and no funny ingredients please. I had my first artichoke tonight and we already have the plant at my boyfriends house, so hopefully we’ll be eating one or two again and I enjoyed it, but we were wondering if we could find some cool recipes to prepare it. Oh and since we didn’t even know what it looked like a few months ago, can someone please give me a description of what we are supposed to actually eat (surely it isn’t the whole flower)?

I cut off the very tops then place it in a bowl and add some water, I then cover the top with butter and a little minced garlic for flavor. I cover it and the bowl with seran wrap and place in the microwave for about 8-10 minutes. After its cooled down, you rip off each leaf and use your teeth to scrap off the bottoms which have the meat on them.

Sorry if that didn’t make much since ha. I tried.

Boil them in butter salt, garlic, and other things of your choice, or batter them in a mixture of the same seasonings and throw them on the grill.

That is a very good way mmmmmmm

Sorry, I have never eaten artichokes, nor have I prepared them… so I really can’t give you an answer from myself personally. However, I would still like to try and help. :-)

I did a bit of research, and I found a really great site that has tons of information and details that I think you’ll find very helpful. Check it out - http://funadvice.com/r/bha9mqcv8id

Peel off the leaves and steam them for 5-10 minutes. You can start steaming while you’re peeling, since the outer leaves cook slower anyway. Discard a few of the outer leaves that are so tough that they don’t come off in one piece.

Mix mayonnaise with italian herbs, lemon and enough water to thin it to the desired consistency. There’s your dip.

Arrange everything so that it’s presentable or people will say “what’s that pile of leaves?”

Answer #13

Lol. Thanks.
