When rating songs, what should you listen for?

it all depends on the genre. when rating, just say exactly what you feel. i don’t think there is really anything specific to listen for

I primarilly listen to the beat of songs. It was a primary reason I really used to like techno.

a good song needs two things:

1. a fresh beat
2. sick lyrics

Meaningful lyrics, and good vocals. :)

if you can find the moral of the song and also check making sure the song is pleasant to they type of genre the song is classifed under…. start by making an imaginary number line from 0 to 10 and start at 10… and if you find something out of place or wrong then you can lower the number on the numberline according to your preference.. i find this easier than finding good things in the song because thats more of a personal opinion of whatyou liked

lyrics, beat, voice, mood, how it relates to you, how it makes you feel.

The lyrics are a big thing for me, because I lean more towards the meaning of songs.

It totally depends on what you are looking for in a song… If you enjoy the listening experience, if the song evokes emotion within you, then that’s usually a good enough reason to rate it high. Everyone has different tastes so it’s down to personal preference.
