I got cut off of methadone. So i need some help as to how im supposed to go about quitting. Ive been injecting 16mg about 5-8 times a day.
I hate to say it but that is really going to suck! You will need an inner strength that you may not know you have. You'll probably feel like your'e dying at some point, or wish that you were. Substance addiction is a horrible beast that is very difficult to vanquish in some cases. Seek counseling and family/friend support. From the sound of it (16mg injections 5-8 times daily) you may be pretty hooked. Just keep to your goal, no matter the pain or insanity you endure. It will pass in due time and you will feel like a new person. The neurotransmitters in your brain will take awhile to wake up and start working again. They've been wallowing in methadone and the sudden lack of it will cause alot of trouble and shock in your head, and probably the rest of your body. This is called withdrawals, and the longer you were doing methadone, the worse it will be. I'm not trying to scare you, just trying to prepare you for the potential anguish you are about to undergo. I hope its not nearly as bad as I describe, but your'e probably in for a pretty rough time. Good Luck, and kudos for your ambition!
follow the dosing instructions on the bottle, I don't see why you couldn't take an ibuprofen or other anti inflammatory/pain reducer. . drink plenty of water and eat well too. You'll be fine, just stay strong and remind yourself that your'e doing the right thing for your health and sanity, although it might not feel like it. I gotta say this as well. If you experience anything that's too extreme or intense to handle, go to the emergency room. They will stabilize you with anti-psychotics and an intravenous supply of nutrients and vitamins. Yeah its scary, and I've been through this before, personally (morphine). It takes some courage and commitment but you will come out the other side and it will be amazing.
With that frame of mind, you will succeed. Don't let that perfect mind of yours crumble in the face of your dying addiction. It will thrash and fight over many years but your spirit is eternal. When you feel a craving, associate it with the past and define it with nostalgia, instead of practice.
