Does it ruin your hair to curl it after gel is in it?

If you put gel in your hair and then curl it a bit does it ruin your hair at all? And if it does ruin it how does it ruin it? Cause I do it to my hair cause I make my hair flippy and the only way I do it is I put gel the curl it a bit and sumtimes I hear it sizzle. Does it sizzle cause of the gel?

Answer #1

YES very much so.

Answer #2

if you put gel on your hair BEFORE you use heat, then yes it is very damaging, it will totally dry your hair out. the sizzling sound that happens when you curl your hair when it wet with products? not a good sign. basically, it’s sizzling your hair to death :’[

Answer #3

Any form of heat styling will do damage to your hair (like split ends…), but it will do less damage if you use some type of heat protectant product! I use Biosilk and it works really well for me and lasts a long time… it also makes a sizzle noise and steams a little bit, but it doesn’t do it unless I use the Biosilk, so yes, the product is what makes it do that!

Answer #4

doing that can damage your hair the sizzling is the gel b/c is wet going against heat. it can dry your hair out and can cause split ends, you could try curling it and then putting hairspray, but if thats the only way to make it flippy make sure you use good hair products to keep it healthy
