Answer #2

well, my school does it because of the gangs in my neighborhood. You know, so they wont wear gang colors into school and stuff like that.

Answer #3

Actually it depends on where you are. Overhere our schools have uniforms because it is cheaper for children and parents who can’t afford school to buy one or two outfits for the child to wear, than a different one every month or week. Furthermore the original idea of it was also to promote unity i.e. let everyone look the same and feel like they belong, but these days it doesn’t really have that effect anymore.

Alot of it is because public schools having uniforms is still a pretty “new” thing so not every school has made the change yet. I graduated 8 years ago from public school and we never had uniforms the entire time i went to school. All the public schools in our area now, however, are introducing uniforms and theres only a few schools who still dont have them. Its only a matter of time before its mandatory for all schools. As much as the students hate them it solves alot of problems. Uniforms are cheaper and more affordable for parents, students gets picked on less about their clothes, there are less “inappropriate” things being worn to school now, visitors and people who dont belong to the school stand out more and so it helps with safety…

Answer #5

Most schools will use uniforms so all pupils are equal, they also seem to think that uniforms stop chances of bullying, also they just look quite smart :)

Answer #6

From what I am hearing there are a few reasons. The first is safety, eliminating gang affiliation colors while on school grounds and preventing people who aren’t in school from roaming the halls undetected. Second, to eliminate clothing on the girls that is too revealing and shows status on the guys. Another reason is it gets the students to focus more on schoolwork and not fashion, etc. It is also supposed to increase school spirit. When I went to kindergarten and first grade there wasn’t a uniform but there was a fence down middle of the playground and a row of empty seats separating the boys from the girls.

i graduated last year and this year the school i went to had uniforms. in my junior year people starting not really caring about gettig in trouble about not following dress code and it grew into more and more students not following it so some teachers stopped reporting it so the kids would be in class instead of the office. therefor by the middle of my senior year there were clothing choices that were in my opinion really $luty and some offending and thats why they went to uniforms this year

Answer #8

Where i am, hardly any public schools wear uniforms unless they are prep. i am currently at a private college prep school and they didnt have uniforms until a few years back due to all the girls dressing like ho.es. they are actually expensive, and not cheap. along with all the tuition less and less ppl go to private schools because not only must u pay for uniforms but u pay the tuition which is a lot, so i think it just causes money problems. but any ways, over here you can clearly see whos private and public bcuz the public school kids dress like dirtbags, not all, but most, and the private school kids dress more um how do i put it? sophysticated, spelled that wrong i bet but whatever. it causes wars because we are more wealthy than the public school kids and they always bag on us, and its really sad too. i personally hate them and see no reason for them

In my country, basically all high schools have uniforms. The ones that dont tend to ones that cater more for adult education, and it seems a bit silly to make adults returning to education wear uniforms.
