What does this '' ^^^'' mean in possibly German?

I talk to somebody on IM from Germany, and after almost every sentence, they put ‘’^^’’ what does that mean?

its like an emoticon its like closed happy eyes with no mouth or nose. no specific language.

Rachel is correct. It’s a happy face, although a lot of people usually have it with the mouth eg. “^_^”.

well it’s nothing in german. pretty sure it is the emoticon tho.

Yes, that’s how a lot of people use it. It’s just like someone saying “How are you ? (:”.

It’s a universal thing - my ex boyfriend use to use ‘^^’ all the time and he wasn’t German nor did he live in Germany.

Nope, all wrong.

It usually means “arrow up”. So when someone writes something and maybe quotes somebody else, then Germans use the ^^^ to point at that text. For example…

^^^ a habit that some people don’t understand.

would mean

[That which is written above is] a habit that some people don’t understand.
