As everyone knows the Pope is visiting Washington and New York (where I live). What I want to ask is do you think this visit will have any merit or do you think there will be repercussions.
To my fellow Jews do you think he is genuine about getting rid of anti-Semitism? I ask this because of the prayer that there is much controversy over - the one where he says about Jews being saved if we recognize Jesus.
He's a controversial Pope. After making remarks that antagonized the entire Muslim world, he prayed in Muslim fashion at the Sultanahmet Mosque in Istanbul.
I could see him making a similar gesture with the Jews, although it's hard to say where he really stands on these things.
I don't think it will make any real difference. No one outside the Catholic community seems to take him very seriously and many Catholics don't believe quite as strictly as he claims to.
big shock...some christian wants the jews to accept christ. they want EVERYBODY to accept christ.
