what is the point of buying college books if the classes are lectures?

The classes are lectures. The exams are not. If you plan on passing your exams, you buy the book. Depends of course. On how much the professor uses the book.

You need those to study, unless you plan on taking notes on every single word that the teacher sais.

No I’m not in college yet, but I know that even I sometimes have to get books on my own to get a subject that I don’t understand very well to get further information for finals. ( 9th grade).

:) the school makes money off selling books and the professor makes money if it is his/her book that you are required to buy

i only choose the books that i must buy. i buy books for my major subjects. I don’t buy other books cos usually u can find them at the school library or i do lectures..

Trust me, you’ll want the book. Not all professors are clearn, and you probably won’t be able to make it to every single lecture of the semester, especially if you get sick. And of course, some teachers require you to read outside of class and will test you on it. In the end, if you don’t write all over them you can sell them back anyways :)

do they some used books in the book store

They have plenty of used books which are cheaper. But if you buy the new ones you get a lot more money back when you sell them at the end of the semester.
