Should I ask for his number?

Okay, this may seem like an elemantary question but…there’s this guy, I have a feeling he likes me and I like him too, but we’re both shy people and dont know how to take it to the next level. One day, we were talking and I think he asked me for my #( im not sure because he loked down and mumbled it softly, which was really wierd because he was looking directly art me the whole conversation) anyway, I didnt know what he said and there and couldnt take the akward pause so I just walked away. Later on I actually realized that he mightve asked me for my number and I felt really badly. To make matters worse, he was acting really wierd towards me for like two days… Now were okay but you can tell that he’s afraid to ask for the digits.. I really like him and want us to be together sooowhat should I do to let him know that. Should I ask fo his number?…(please keep in mind that I’m kind of shy with this type of stuff)
