Why dont you just take him out to the mall and let him pick something. I do it to my sister who just turned 17 all the time and she loves it. We spend time together and she is happy with what she gets…

well, are there any stores that he goes to really often, you know, a favorite store of his? well, that could help. if that store offers girft cards, you can get him that. those seem to be the most convenient gifts these days.

If you want a gag gift, give him a matchbox car. Then to make up for it give him a gift certificate to his favorite store.
